Glasgow’s iconic St. Enoch Centre is rallying behind social enterprise Street Soccer Scotland, to kit out its football team ahead of the Homeless World Cup in Seoul, South Korea.

Utilising football to create positive change, Street Soccer Scotland supports socially disadvantaged groups to transform their life through regular football-inspired training and personal development programmes.

Eight players have been selected to represent Scotland in the 19th edition of the Homeless World Cup, an annual event which sees 64 teams from around the world compete to reduce the stigma associated with homelessness and provide participants with life-changing opportunities.

As Street Soccer Scotland’s charity partner of the year, St. Enoch Centre jumped at the opportunity to offer the team its support for the once-in-a-lifetime trip.

The leading city-centre destination is providing a range of essential items to Team Scotland, from suncream to water bottles. The Boots store within the Centre has generously donated over 150 toiletries and travel essentials, while St. Enoch Centre’s Tesco has contributed reusable water bottles along with toiletries to the team players.

David Duke, Founder and CEO of Street Soccer Scotland, expressed his gratitude:

“We are overwhelmed at the generosity of St. Enoch Centre ahead of the 2024 Homeless World Cup. The donation covers everything the team needs to succeed and hopefully secure the win for Scotland.

“With the kit list taken care of, we have more time to prioritise supporting our players – many of whom never imagined they’d have the chance to represent Scotland in sport. The Centre’s donation is more than just material – it is a vote of confidence in the players’ potential and in the power of football to change lives.”

George Reader, St. Enoch Centre Director, added:

“We are delighted to be able to support Street Soccer Scotland in their journey to the Homeless World Cup and are grateful to our retailers for contributing to the kit list.

“It is an honour to be working with Street Soccer Scotland to bring about positive change for vulnerable groups in Scotland. We’re looking forward to tuning into the Homeless World Cup in September and cheering on Team Scotland!”
