Stylist Julie Hannah Showcases Summer Essentials

With just one day to go until my weekend of Summer Style workshops and fashion shows at St. Enoch (12-4pm), I thought I would share a few more of my ultimate summer looks. This time it’s all about the city break and festival fashion helping you achieve Coachella vibes wherever you may be heading to this summer.

The City Break 

Planning a much-needed city break over the summer months? You’ll need a stylish and practical capsule wardrobe as you go exploring. All those cheesy tourist attractions make for ideal selfie locations, so you need to make sure you’re looking you’re best!

For me, comfort is key when it comes to city girl get-up. You’ll have miles to cover, to see all the sights, so comfortable footwear is more important than ever. But that doesn’t mean you have to forego style. Just a few years ago, I’d never have dreamed of buying a pair of frumpy shoes from Clarks, but in the last couple of seasons they’ve really upped their fashion game. These leather sandals are bang on-trend and they feel as comfy as your favourite slippers.

These woven shorts from Topshop are just a little bit more formal than some of the beachy styles around right now, so they’re a great starting point for your streamlined suitcase. They’ll look cute with this pretty broderie anglaise top, but I’d pack a classic white shirt too, to change up the look. And for night, just throw on your sassiest pair of heels.

Rayban’s Wayfarer sunglasses are a classic style that add a little retro vibe to your look. They might be pricier than most, but you’ll treasure these stylish shades for years to come, so they’re definitely worth a splurge. Just think how cool you’ll look, sipping cocktails in a trendy rooftop bar, in these babies!

Cross-body bags are a big trend for SS16, and the style was just made for weekends in the city. This soft leather style by Folli Follie, is just the right size – big enough to squeeze in your camera and city guide, as well as your usual bits and bobs. I’m hooked on fringed accessories, so I’ll customise it with a couple of fringed leather bag charms from H&M.

Finish off your look, with some delicate gold jewellery and a stylish hat, in crisp black and white. So chic!

The Festival Weekend

Festival season is upon us, so it’s time to get your boho look together and create a cool, Coachella-inspired look worthy of the most fashionable of IT girls.

Whether you’re glamming up for Glastonbury or rocking the new season trends at T In The Park, you’ll want to make sure you pack some of these brilliant festival buys.

Topshop is, of course, where every fashionista begins her rock chick wardrobe. I love this embroidered cotton top with pretty fringe details that create that really seventies feel.  With its lightweight layers and delicate straps, it’s perfect for teaming with a pair of denim cut-offs – and even if you’re not planning on spending your weekend in a muddy field, it will look just as good with white jeans and a comfy pair of wedges.

When it comes to accessories, a cross-body bag is again a must-have. Of course, when it comes to festival dressing, the rules go out the window, so don’t be scared to pile-on the accessories, hats and headbands and mix and match prints and patterns.
