This Summer in Glasgow

This summer, Glasgow is bursting with reasons to visit. From world-class sporting events and colourful festivals to blockbuster exhibitions, family adventures and exciting new film releases, there’s never been a better time to explore the city centre. At the heart of it all is St. Enoch Centre – the perfect base for shopping, dining, entertainment and discovering everything Glasgow has to offer.

Whether you’re planning a family day out, catching up with friends or making the most of the city’s biggest events, here’s what’s happening this summer.

2026 Commonwealth Games

From 23 July to 2 August, Glasgow once again welcomes athletes and visitors from across the Commonwealth as the Commonwealth Games 2026 return to the city. Alongside the sporting action, the city will come alive with celebrations, cultural events and activities, creating an incredible atmosphere throughout the city centre.

Perfectly positioned in the heart of Glasgow, St. Enoch Centre is an ideal stop for shopping, dining or relaxing between events.

Festival 2026

Running alongside the Games, Festival 2026 transforms Glasgow into one giant cultural stage, with art installations, music, performances and creative experiences taking place across the city. It’s a chance to experience Glasgow’s renowned arts scene in venues, streets and unexpected spaces.

Merchant City Festival Comes to St. Enoch Centre

One of the highlights of the summer calendar is the Merchant City Festival, returning from 24 July to 2 August with street theatre, live music, dance, circus performances and family entertainment throughout the city centre.

As part of the festival programme, St. Enoch Centre is proud to host Glory Mold: 2084, an immersive installation presented by Surge Festival.

Taking place in Unit 12 from 24–29 July (12pm–5pm), this free interactive experience transports visitors to the year 2084, where a playful fungi-powered AI has transformed the ruins of an abandoned tech centre into a living ecosystem. Using humanity’s last working keyboard, visitors can interact with a specially trained AI while exploring a spectacular environment built from handmade biomaterials inspired by slime mould.

Thought-provoking, playful and completely free to experience, Glory Mold is one of the city’s most unique cultural events this summer.

Barbie Takes Over Kelvingrove

One of Scotland’s biggest exhibitions of the year has arrived at Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum.

Barbie®: The Exhibition celebrates over 65 years of fashion, design and popular culture with more than 250 fascinating objects on display. Whether you’re reliving childhood memories or discovering Barbie’s cultural impact for the first time, it’s a must-visit this summer.

Celebrate Pride Glasgow

Glasgow’s city centre will come alive with colour on Saturday, 18 July, as Pride Glasgow 2026 returns for a day of celebration, visibility and community.

The festivities include the iconic city parade, a festival in the Merchant City, live performances, club nights and a programme of community events celebrating LGBTQ+ culture across Glasgow. Whether you’re taking part in the parade, enjoying the entertainment or simply soaking up the atmosphere, Pride is one of the highlights of the city’s summer calendar.

With St. Enoch Centre just a short walk from the celebrations, it’s the perfect place to start your day with breakfast, enjoy a spot of shopping, grab lunch with friends or recharge before heading back out to enjoy the festivities.

Spider-Man Swings Back Into Glasgow

This summer also sees the release of the latest Spider-Man blockbuster—a particularly exciting moment for Glasgow after many scenes were filmed right here in the city centre, with Glasgow once again transforming into the streets of New York.

To celebrate, Hamleys at St. Enoch Centre is hosting a spectacular Spider-Man takeover, packed with themed activities, exclusive merchandise and superhero fun for all ages.

After your visit, make it a complete day out by heading to Vue Cinema St. Enoch, where you can catch Spider-Man on the big screen and spot familiar Glasgow locations throughout the film.
